DEPOSITS AND PROCEDURE FOR OPENING AN ACCOUNT
    1. $100 Deposit is required unless you can provide a "Letter of Good Standing" from your water utility or other utility that you are currently leaving. This means that you have paid in a timely fashion, have no outstanding balance. Your former utility provider may fax us that document at 620-983-2786 (24/7). (After one year of good payment history, your deposit is refundable to your account.) 2. Visit the City of Peabody Office and pick up an Application for Service. This form must be completed, complete with your Social Security number. The application must be signed by the person responsible for the account.3. MOVING?
To terminate your responsibility with your City of Peabody utility account..........
  • It is required that you initiate contact with the City Office and inform us of your intent to vacate your residence.
  • Provide the City with the date and time of day you wish the water meter to be read out and locked.
  • Provide the city with your forwarding address to receive your final bill or the balance of your deposit.
  • If you were renting, please advise your landlord of your departure so they can tell us if they want the water left on in their name.
  • If you have sold your home, please advise the new owners that they are responsible to visit the City Office and set up a new account
